A Cure For Cancer? Not So Fast [Dr. Len]
We are living in an era where many exciting advances are impacting the care of patients with cancer. We hope that this approach also bears fruit and is successful. At the same time, we must always offer a note of caution that the process to get this treatment from mouse to man is not always a simple and uncomplicated journey.

That’s why my company and many others have joined with the Union for International Cancer Control for its City Cancer Challenge. Its goal is to create more comprehensive cancer centers in cities, especially in low- and middle-income countries, that lack such facilities as a way to increase the number of people with access to quality cancer treatment.

Brawley aims to create a “huge collaboration” in research on disparities [The Cancer Letter]
My jobs are to do outreach and engagement, to do health practices work, to continue much of the health disparities work that I had already been doing at the American Cancer Society. I anticipate that moving to Hopkins will allow me to have some academic freedoms to get involved in the political process, influence policy in ways that you just cannot do from a not-for-profit foundation.
