More Evidence That Nutrition Studies Don’t Always Add Up [NY Times]
Data
dredging is fairly common in health research, and especially in studies
involving food. It is one reason contradictory nutrition headlines seem
to be the norm: One week coffee, cheese and red wine are found to be
protective against heart disease and cancer, and the next week a new
crop of studies pronounce that they cause it.

Pfizer's once-failed Vizimpro rebounds with targeted lung cancer approval [FiercePharma]
The
go-ahead comes more than a year after Pfizer trotted out positive phase
3 results for the drug at 2017’s American Society of Clinical Oncology
(ASCO) annual meeting. Data showed that Vizimpro had beaten out an
in-class rival, AstraZeneca’s Iressa, at delaying cancer growth in newly
diagnosed patients, paring down the risk of progression or death by
41%.
